Nowadays, more and more people are suffering from cancer. < < 2012 China Cancer Registry Annual Report > > says this: [One person is diagnosed with cancer every six minutes in the country, 8,550 people become cancer patients every day, and one in seven to eight people dies of cancer.]
People often say that cancer is an incurable disease, but in the eyes of oncologists, cancer is likely to be cured.
Everyone may have family or friends suffering from cancer, and even that person may be himself. Understanding cancer and avoiding unnecessary panic can help us better deal with possible problems.
Most early cancers may be cured.
The terrible thing about cancer is that it is difficult to cure it once it is advanced. However, the probability of curing early cancer is still very high. The earlier the stage, the higher the probability.
At the current level of medical development, most early and some middle and late solid tumors, such as early lung cancer, gastric cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, etc., are likely to be cured by the following two methods:
- First of all, it is mainly root surgery, and second, it is combined with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy or endocrine therapy, etc.
Of course, the above [many are likely to be cured] does not mean that all early cancers can be cured.
Therefore, early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment are the key to the key. Some people find cancer very late, which is really incurable in most cases. All we can do is to prolong life in a limited way, or to relieve the pain of patients and improve the quality of life.
Advanced cancer may be partially cured.
Most cancers cannot be cured in the advanced stage, but there are exceptions, especially since effective chemotherapy drugs and schemes appear, some cancers may also be cured in the advanced stage.
Early cancers are mainly treated by surgery, while advanced cancers are mainly treated by chemotherapy. Sometimes targeted drugs are used, combined with radiotherapy when necessary, and occasionally surgery may be used, but surgery is not the main treatment method.
Some cancers that can be cured by chemotherapy
As mentioned earlier, surgery is the main method for early cancer and chemotherapy is the main method for advanced cancer. However, for some cancers, systemic chemotherapy is the main cure mode for both early and advanced cancer.
This kind of cancer has two characteristics:
-
This type of cancer is usually [short-tempered], fast-growing and sensitive to chemotherapy or radiotherapy, which is mainly treated by chemotherapy and radiotherapy instead of surgery.
-
This type of cancer is mainly blood, lymphatic system tumors, germ cell tumors, these cancers are highly sensitive to chemotherapy
As the saying goes, the faster it grows, the easier it will be to be hit. Most of the chemotherapy drugs used for these cancers are traditional chemotherapy drugs that are not expensive and are not too expensive. Medical insurance can be reimbursed. Of course, some need targeted drugs, which are relatively expensive.
The following are some common cancers that may be cured by chemotherapy. The long-term survival rate is shown in parentheses.
Certain leukaemia:
- Children’s acute lymphoblastic leukemia [cure rate is about 75% ~ 90%] adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia [cure rate is about 30% ~ 50%] acute promyelocytic leukemia [cure rate is about 70% ~ 80%] acute myelocytic leukemia [cure rate is about 20% ~ 40%]
Malignant germ cell tumor:
- Testicular malignant germ cell tumor [cure rate is about 70% ~ 80%] Pregnant choriocellular carcinoma [cure rate is about 80% ~ 90%]
Certain lymphomas:
- Hodgkin’s lymphoma [cure rate is about 70% ~ 90%] diffuse large B cell lymphoma [cure rate is about 50% ~ 60%] lymphoblastic lymphoma [cure rate is about 50% ~ 90%]
Malignant Tumors in Children:
- Nephroblastoma [cure rate is about 70% ~ 90%] Neuroblastoma in children [cure rate is about 50% ~ 80%] Ewing’s sarcoma [cure rate is about 50% ~ 80%]
How is cancer [cure]?
Since it is said that many can be cured in the early stage and some can be cured in the late stage, how do we understand cancer [cure]?
The medical definition of [cancer cure] is:
The patient had a certain cancer and did not relapse after treatment. He did not die of this cancer later.
But now that he has been cured, there is no guarantee that he will not suffer from other diseases, other cancers, or other accidents, nor will he live a long life.
You may have heard the common saying of [five-year survival rate, ten-year survival rate] in cancer treatment, but [five-year survival rate] does not mean that patients can only live for five years.
[XX-year survival rate] refers to the probability of surviving at least XX years after treatment.
Why is it set in XX? Because there are very few patients who relapse after XX years, not that patients can only live for XX years.
Early cancers are treated mainly by surgery. Many people live for decades, and many people live to live as long as normal people. WHO also defines cancer as a chronic disease and believes that cancer can be controlled.
How to understand the [cure rate] of cancer?
However, [may] is not equal to [certain]. There are few things in the world that are 100% certain, so there is also a saying about [cancer cure rate].
[Cure rate] refers to the probability that the patient will not relapse after treatment, the probability of long-term survival and the probability of not dying of the disease.
Some friends may give examples of their family members or relatives and friends around them:
XXX’s cancer is early, but it is not recurrent? Didn’t you leave in the end?
Yes, as I did say earlier, most early cancers are likely to be cured. However, there is a probability problem in the treatment results of cancer for the population. For individuals, there are actually only two results: cure and no cure. It depends on whether you fall in the probability of cure or the probability of no cure.
Perhaps many people will think when they see this:
How do you feel that the statement of cancer cure is like [overlord’s frame]? This does not matter that, this does not guarantee that, nor does it guarantee that.
Indeed, under the existing medical conditions, there is no way to guarantee a 100% cure for cancer, but once medicine becomes absolute, it becomes pseudoscience and a liar. Please maintain confidence and rationality.
