I remember one summer, the school called our students to rehearse jumping exercises on weekends. Finally, one day, just as the teachers were discussing the formation, I fainted directly. According to the students, I threw myself on the ground face down and did not hesitate.
I only remember that before I fainted, I was thirsty and hot, so I wanted to find a cool place to rest. At that time, the teachers speculated that I was suffering from heatstroke and took me to the office to blow the electric fan and drink water.
Yes! I am suffering from heatstroke!
So, now the hottest season is coming again, how can we prevent heatstroke so as not to faint and eat dirt like me?
To prevent heatstroke, remember 2 key words
Of course, if the weather is very hot, the best prevention method is to stay in the room with air conditioning or fans as far as possible and not go out, or choose to go out when the temperature is lower, such as in the morning or evening.
If you have to go out under the scorching sun, prevention can do this:
1. Choose to wear some thin and loose clothes to go out. If you can match them with a wide-brimmed hat, it must be excellent.
2. Wear sunscreen. If you go out for a long time, take sunscreen with you.
3. Drink more water if you really don’t like plain boiled water, sports drinks are also a good choice.
4. If you are going to do outdoor sports or work, you need to add more water: 2 hours before sports, it is better to add 700 mL of water (500 ~ 600 mL of a bottle of mineral water); Before the exercise starts, it is better to supplement 200 mL of water. When exercising, even if you are not thirsty, you’d better supplement 200 mL of water every 20 minutes.
5. Observe the color of urine: Darker urine color is a signal of water shortage in the body. Be sure to drink more water to ensure lighter urine color (pay attention to the color of your urine at ordinary times, at least know that it is what color in general, then you can judge what as [darker color]).
To sum up, there are two words: drinking water and cooling down.
These things cannot be done!
Replenishing water does not mean that it is right to drink liquid.
Avoid drinking coffee and alcohol, both of which can aggravate the loss of water in the body and belong to the type of “what is done is more than done”. Don’t supplement salt without authorization, unless you have a doctor’s advice. In hot seasons, the simplest and safest way to supplement salt is to drink sports drinks or fruit juice.
If you suffer from epilepsy, heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, need to limit liquid intake or accompanied by water and sodium retention, etc., must consult a doctor before replenishing water.
So, what should I do if I suffer from heatstroke?
People suffering from heatstroke usually suffer from various degrees of discomfort, including blackening, dizziness, headache, nausea and vomiting, faster heartbeat, cold sweat, cramps, and even direct loss of consciousness. Most of the time, people do not notice heatstroke until they faint.
However, no matter whether the heatstroke is serious or not, the first thing to do is to move to a place with air conditioning, at least a cool place to rest, take off your extra clothes and help your body dissipate heat.
STEP 1 Take care of it yourself
If you feel a bit like the kind of experience when you suddenly get up after squatting for a long time, the situation is relatively light at this time, so you can deal with it yourself first.
How to deal with:
- Immediately replenish water, but don’t binge drinking, drinking too much water at one time will lead to reflex perspiration of the human body, resulting in further loss of water and salt, aggravating the disease. It is best to have someone to accompany, in case of other bad symptoms can be quickly dealt with, and immediately sent to the hospital.
2. Sending to hospital
If more serious symptoms such as headache and nausea begin to occur, send them to the hospital immediately. Don’t think that everything will pass away [slowly]. Severe heatstroke may threaten life safety.
How to deal with:
Call 120 or go directly to the hospital and wait for an ambulance or taxi. This short period of time is a very important time for first aid.
- Turn on the air conditioner or fan, and wet the patient’s skin with sponge, etc. Apply ice bags (no ice bags, go to convenience stores to buy a bottle of iced mineral water instead) to the patient’s armpit, thigh root, neck and back; Shower or bath the patient with cold water; If the ambulance cannot arrive in time, contact the emergency department of the nearby hospital for help.
In short, the most important thing is to help heatstroke patients reduce their body temperature to normal level during the period when they are not in the hospital.
Generally speaking, heatstroke mostly occurs in the elderly who are not equipped with air conditioning and have poor indoor ventilation, or infants under 4 years old. Usually do not pay attention to drinking water, drinking too much, or people with chronic diseases, the possibility of heatstroke is also greater. Therefore, whether you or someone in your family belongs to the above situation, high temperature weather must pay attention to prevent heatstroke, faint eating soil is small, harm to health is big.
