To deal with repeated colds, one point of prevention is better than ten points of treatment.
In life, we often see such babies: they catch a cold and have a fever at any time. The last cough happened just two days ago and had a runny nose. The runny nose did not flow and the cough did not end.
Every time a child caught a cold in the kindergarten, he seemed to hide from it. He often went to the hospital for three days and two ends to see a doctor. To the hospital is likely to be infused, the baby suffered a lot, and adults were exhausted physically and mentally. Such babies belong to the type of recurrent respiratory tract infection.
For children’s recurrent respiratory tract infection, there is a clear medical definition:
[Children under the age of 7 catch colds more than 7 times a year, and children over the age of 7 catch colds more than 6 times a year, which can be counted as recurrent respiratory tract infection.] If the infection site is in the upper respiratory tract, cold symptoms will be shown.
The repeated colds of the baby are not only related to the innate constitution of the baby, but also related to the misunderstanding of parents’ daily care of the baby.
The ancients said [to cure a disease before it is cured], which translates into the words of our common people: [to prevent a disease is better than to cure it].
This sentence comes from an allusion. Wang Wen of Wei asked Bian Que, “The three brothers in your family are all skilled in medicine. Which is the best? [Bian Que replied: [The eldest brother is the best, the middle brother is the second, and I am the worst.] Wen Wang asked again: [Why? [Bian Que replied: [The eldest brother’s treatment is before the onset of the disease. The middle brother treats the disease at the beginning of the disease. And I treat the disease when the disease is serious. Most people see me puncturing meridians, bleeding with needles, applying poison to the skin to attack poison and other major operations, so they think my medical skill is good, but they do not know that the eldest brother’s prevention is more important.]
If parents do the following in their daily care for their babies, they can become the best doctors for their babies like Bian Que’s eldest brother.
In order to get children’s safety, three points are hunger and cold.
Some parents always wear more clothes for their babies and cover them up tightly, so the babies are always sweating.
When sweating, pores expand, and it is easy to catch a cold due to cold air. Therefore, don’t wear too much for your baby and protect your baby too much.
As the saying goes [to have children safe, three points of hunger and cold].
If parents can often insist on cold-resistant exercise for their babies at ordinary times, so that their babies can slowly develop cold-resistant ability in their bodies, the probability of catching a cold will also gradually decrease.
The so-called cold-resistant exercise refers to the use of the difference between temperature and body surface temperature as a stimulating factor to exercise the body, improve the adaptability of the human body to temperature changes and enhance its resistance.
There are many methods for cold-resistant exercise, including cold water bath, washing hands, face and feet with cold water, outdoor activities in winter, etc. All these methods are based on the fact that the baby does not have pale skin or goose bumps.
Studies have found that overdressed children often suffer from colds and coughs, while thinly dressed children seldom suffer from diseases because they have acquired the ability to adapt to changes in hot and cold air. Therefore, it is beneficial to increase children’s resistance to diseases by keeping them [often suffering from three-point cold].
In addition, some parents like to use American ginseng and other supplements to the baby’s body. This is actually not good, giving the baby random nutrition, not only will not improve his body resistance, but will increase his spleen and stomach burden, causing accumulated food and inducing colds.
The common saying mentioned above [to be safe for children, three points of hunger and cold] not only warns parents not to dress their babies too warm, but also warns parents not to eat their babies too full.
For younger babies, parents should also follow the principles of from less to more, from thin to thick, from fine to coarse, and from one to many when adding supplementary foods.
Now parents are afraid that the baby will not have enough to eat. As long as the baby likes to eat what, they will blindly let him eat more.
Even more, some parents still force their babies to eat when they don’t want to eat any more. Eating more is easy to cause constipation or accumulated food colds due to intestinal dysfunction. Therefore, as long as children’s daily food intake can meet metabolic needs, [often with three points of hunger] is still beneficial.
Don’t use [gamma globulin] and antibiotics for your baby at will.
There was once a reporter who interviewed me on the topic of preventing colds. During the interview, she shared her own personal experience with me. She said that when she was young, Grandpa often took her to the hospital to inject [gamma globulin] during the season of high incidence of colds in winter and spring. She asked me if this preventive measure was reliable.
Before answering this question, I would like to introduce that what is gamma globulin.
It is an immunoglobulin product separated and extracted from healthy human plasma and inactivated by virus, belonging to biological products derived from blood.
Biological products are a kind of drugs that easily lead to severe allergic reactions.
In addition, once the plasma from which the drug is made is contaminated, The probability of infection with infectious diseases such as hepatitis B and hepatitis C after injection is extremely high, and cases of infection caused by injection of contaminated blood products are also continuously found in clinical practice. Therefore, modern infectious diseases believe that gamma globulin cannot be widely used in clinical immunization, let alone in prevention of minor diseases such as colds.
Clinically, its use is very strict and is only used for the treatment of some serious diseases, such as immune deficiency diseases, extensive burns, severe trauma infection and septicemia.
The application of any immune-enhancing drug such as [gamma globulin] to a healthy baby will disturb the normal development of the baby’s immune function. Not only can it not prevent diseases, but it will inhibit the baby’s own immune function or cause the baby to have new immune disorders. Therefore, it is not easy to take biological products such as immune enhancers to babies with normal immune function.
There are also many parents who have a misconception in their understanding: they regard antibiotics as a panacea and give them to their babies casually. They even think that antibiotics can enhance their babies’ immunity.
As mentioned earlier, most of the baby’s colds and fevers are viral and do not require antibiotics. As long as you pay attention to rest and drink more water, it can be cured in about a week.
Only when bacterial infection is complicated after a cold is diagnosed can antibiotics be given to the baby under the guidance of a doctor.
Moreover, the use of antibiotics in advance cannot prevent the occurrence of bacterial infection. When there is no bad bacterial infection in the body, the indiscriminate use of antibiotics will actually kill good bacteria in the body and cause diarrhea, thus delaying the recovery of the body.
In this way, the cold virus will become a paper tiger.
There is no way to prevent the common cold by vaccination, because there are too many viruses that cause the common cold, there is no way to determine which virus, there is no way to prevent it by vaccination, and the virus that usually causes the common cold is not toxic enough to cause serious complications.
However, influenza can be prevented by injecting influenza vaccine. It should be noted that the virus strain of influenza vaccine varies from year to year, so a new influenza vaccine is required to prevent influenza every year. The vaccination time is from September to December each year (some hospitals can continue until the spring of the following year).
- The common cold is also an infectious disease, which can be spread by droplets coughing or sneezing, or by direct contact with cold patients or articles they have come into contact with. Therefore, during the cold epidemic season, parents should take their babies to public places less to avoid cross infection. Parents should not only wash their babies’ hands and disinfect their babies’ clothes frequently, Attention should also be paid to personal hygiene, When I came home from work, You have to change the outside clothes first, Rinse your mouth, clean your nasal cavity, wash your hands, and then hold your baby. Not only should you let your baby stay away from the cold virus through various methods, but you should also try your best to avoid yourself or your baby becoming the source of infection of the cold virus. That is to say, if you catch a cold or your baby catches a cold, you should wear a mask to yourself or your baby to avoid the spread of the cold virus.
The Japanese have done a very good job in this respect. If the Japanese patients I contact catch a cold, they will wear masks to take medicine from the pharmacy.
Also, in foreign kindergartens, teachers often teach children the correct way to sneeze by blocking their mouth and nose with their elbows instead of their hands.
Because the virus is easily transmitted by hand, and elbows and hands have much less chance of contacting people and the probability of transmitting diseases is much lower.
In addition, if the baby has a cold, don’t let him go to kindergarten.
This seems to be difficult to implement in reality. Many parents do not have time to take leave of absence from work and have no time to take care of their sick babies. They hope that the babies will be sent back to kindergarten as soon as they get rid of the fever.
In fact, it still takes about a week for the baby with fever to fully recover.
When the baby catches a cold, his physique is relatively weak and his ability to defend himself against germs is relatively low. If there are other babies in the kindergarten who catch a cold, they may not be infected with the same virus. If the baby is allowed to go to the kindergarten at this time, he may be infected with a new virus when the baby is weak, causing the cold to repeat.
Therefore, if the baby catches a cold, it is better to let him rest at home. Don’t rush to the kindergarten. It is not too late to go to the kindergarten when the rest is good and the baby returns to normal.
