I sneaked into the probiotic derivative group for one week and found the secret recipe for curing all diseases.

01 WeChat Group Adventures

By chance, my old classmates pulled me into a WeChat group called [Health Preservation & Parenting School].

She said that the novice mother inside would ask questions about the symptoms of all kinds of babies, while the administrator would tirelessly and patiently answer them and occasionally give a red envelope of a few cents.

I was moved to tears.

Is this what’s Lei Feng spirit of working hard and helping others?

Is this how’s service consciousness?

Answer your questions and give you money?

On the first day of entering the group, I watched a [WeChat Group One-on-One Interview]:

One baby’s face turned red after crying. After Baoma asked in the group, the administrator diagnosed it as eczema.

Just as I marveled at the administrator’s judgment, the following operation was unexpected.

Administrators suggest-smear probiotics on children’s faces with water.

A few hours later, the crowd staged a rollover.

In the afternoon, the precious mother who asked for the consultation reflected in the group: “It’s only a little red today. How can it become more and more red after applying probiotics?” ]

The administrator teacher is not flustered, after all, he is used to big scenes.

It is believed that the mother ate [hair] and caused [eczema].

-Do you remember? Have you eaten [hair]?

-Yes.

The lifting of the rollover crisis is all a mother’s problem.

The administrator also gave a thoughtful hug to the mother who did [bad] things.

If it is an accident to see the suggestion of using probiotics mixed with water to rub eczema, and hearing the word [hair], I can basically confirm the medical knowledge content of this group as follows:

Zero

After lurking silently for a week, I discovered an amazing (obvious) secret:

In this group, all diseases can be solved by probiotics…….

This includes but is not limited to: removing eczema, removing internal heat, invigorating yang qi, regulating spleen and stomach, sufficient qi and blood, allergic rhinitis, relieving jaundice, and inhibiting fever…..

For example, the administrator who completely cured his 14-year-old son of rhinitis:

It can also inhibit fever. Don’t miss it when you pass by:

What’s more, one of the effects is… longevity. Is this probiotic made of what Tang Priest?

Then the administrator began to make it crazy that we [should choose the right probiotics]:

The spirit of service originally originated from selling probiotics.

As the propaganda became more and more crazy, a week later, I began to worry that I could not withstand the temptation of [longevity]. While my mind was still sound, I quickly withdrew from the group before I could not help placing an order.

Are probiotics really so divine?

I don’t know that since what, different kinds and brands of probiotics have taken turns in the circle of friends, holding the expectation of curing diseases and nourishing the body. The [harmless and natural pure temperament] created by probiotic products has attracted a large number of consumers.

Some products claim that probiotics can [help protect stomach, relieve alcoholism, reduce cholesterol, prevent and inhibit tumor growth, and have certain auxiliary effects on hypertension, colitis, long spots and acne, etc.].

Some claim that probiotics can cure [all gynecological inflammation that does not require surgery]: treatment and maintenance after abortion, irregular menstruation, pelvic inflammatory disease, cervical erosion, mold, trichomonas, bacterial vaginitis, leucorrhea abnormality, peculiar smell, vaginal relaxation, pruritus, uterine cold, vulvar pruritus, dysmenorrhea, and people who are not easy to conceive…….

The most unique thing is to focus on the mother and infant market with purchasing power, and to take advantage of the novice mother’s nervousness about the little Baby to sell goods while [diagnosing].

Even some mothers give their children six bags a day…….

Are probiotics really so divine? We consulted professional pharmacists and pediatricians:

1. Can probiotics be eaten every day?

Probiotics are also bacteria. Long-term supplement of one or several kinds will also lead to the risk of flora imbalance. Some special groups should be more vigilant.

Probiotics may lead to bacteremia, eubacteremia and sepsis. The risk of infection is not only related to individual factors, but also related to the type and dose of probiotics.

Can probiotics treat constipation?

The effect is not obvious.

Many parents will give their children to eat probiotics to treat constipation, but in many constipation clinical guidelines at home and abroad, there is no content about probiotics to treat constipation. Generally speaking, bifidobacterium lactis is effective on constipation, but the clinical application of constipation in children lacks evidence-based medical basis, that is to say, insufficient evidence.

Can probiotics treat eczema?

In fact, it is only effective for milk protein allergic eczema.

Foreign studies have shown that probiotics can indeed be used to prevent and treat eczema. The relatively high evidence is mainly used for milk protein allergic eczema, such as Lactobacillus rhamnosus or Bifidobacterium lactis. For eczema caused by other reasons, there is no evidence for the effectiveness of probiotics in treatment.

As for smearing a probiotic product on the face with water, it is really not clear that it is what’s operation.

4. Can probiotics improve immunity?

May be valid, insufficient evidence.

Children’s immunity mainly comes from successive and acquired routes. Acquired is clear to everyone that it is improved by illness. Congenital immunity is closely related to heredity, prenatal mother’s exposure environment, delivery mode (natural delivery) and feeding mode (breast feeding).

Probiotics mainly increase the flora in intestinal tract. Based on the current animal experiments and a few clinical trials, there is still no evidence whether they can improve immunity.

In other words, probiotics may only be effective under two conditions:

Infectious diarrhea

Diarrhea caused by antibiotics

For other effects, an article on probiotics published by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) in 2010 said that further research is needed.

Can probiotics be given to children?

2018-2019 is almost a [breakthrough year] for probiotic research.

Several studies published in < > < > < < Lancet > have made new progress. If you can sum up in one sentence, it is-

Probiotics are only effective for specific conditions of specific groups, and they are not a panacea for all diseases in what.

NEJM published a blockbuster study on whether probiotics are effective. The study used a randomized, double-blind program involving 971 participants and found that among preschool children suffering from acute enteritis, probiotic therapy (Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG) was no different from placebo therapy (Placebo).

On September 6, 2018, in two studies published by the top scientific magazine < > in the United States, after experiments with mice and healthy volunteers as subjects, it was directly believed that probiotics not only could not fundamentally restore intestinal flora, but also was not conducive to the recovery of flora after taking antibiotics.

In January this year, an article in the Lancet Digestive Journal said that the commercial and clinical application of [probiotics] lacked scientific basis. The article believed that many people who do not need to supplement probiotics, purchasing and taking probiotics without authorization, may cause some safety problems, such as bacteremia, intestinal bacteria overgrowth and antibiotic resistance.

Everyone’s intestinal flora is unique, and the influence of different bacteria on different populations is highly differentiated. Assuming that the probiotic theory really holds, the premise must also be that everyone has a unique customized flora, which is completely impossible for current probiotic products.

In addition, all kinds of probiotics for infants promoted in friends circle and WeChat group may not consider the problem of [strains].

The state has regulated probiotic strains as early as < < List of Strains Available for Food > > < < List of Strains Available for Infant Food > >.

Among them, there are strict strain restrictions for infants, and only 6 strains are allowed for infants.

However, the administrator who said very clearly and definitely to the novice mother [there is no uncomfortable crowd] does not care about this.

In fact, infants under the age of 2 are still in the stage of establishing intestinal flora, unless special circumstances are not recommended to supplement additional probiotics, let alone this kind of unguaranteed commercial probiotics?

These people, who have no medical knowledge, are active in various WeChat groups and circles of friends and promise to be healthy and carefree through [probiotics].

But in fact, they don’t care about what [safety] at all, let alone those [strains]. All they care about is income.
