There is one thing we say almost every week:
Cancer is not terrible!
People often say that 70% of cancer patients are scared to death by themselves, and sometimes it is really not too much.
However, the destruction of cancer to you is not absolute, not all cancers are fatal, many cancers can be cured clinically, and many patients can survive with tumors for a long time.
How does the doctor know?
The most commonly used judgment for doctors to consider the results of cancer is [survival time]. (Click to view: Dr. what knows that he can still live for two years with cancer? > >)
For example, doctors often say that [five-year survival rate] is used to judge whether a cancer is terrible, but [five-year survival rate] does not only refer to [how likely it is to live to the fifth year].
If you are lucky enough to live to the fifth year, the chance of cancer recurrence will be greatly reduced, thus achieving the so-called clinical cure. Although you may still die from cancer recurrence or metastasis, the chance of long-term survival through this critical period will increase accordingly.
These cancers are not terrible
Cervical cancer
Cervical cancer is one of the most curable cancers, because cervical cancer screening is very convenient. Rapid cervical smear examination can detect very early cervical cancer, even when abnormal cells are not cancerous. Have you ever done cervical smear examination during your physical examination?
Breast cancer
Breast ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) belong to stage 0 of breast cancer staging and can be cured.
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, if the diameter of the tumor is less than the size of a peanut (2 cm or less), the cure rate and survival rate of breast cancer stage 1 tumors are also close to 100%.
Testicular cancer
When testicular cancer is still at an early stage and has not spread to other parts of the body, doctors can effectively treat testicular cancer through simple surgery or combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
After one testicle of most patients is removed, the remaining one will produce enough compensatory hormones, which will not affect their sexual life or reproduction.
Prostate cancer
Prostate cancer can grow at a very slow rate or not at all. Sometimes, some older patients do not even need treatment-they can live a normal life without any complications.
A 2016 study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that There was no difference in overall survival among men who were randomized to study prostate cancer with surgery, radiotherapy, or only monitoring. However, those who received surgery or radiotherapy had a half lower risk of spreading the disease to bones and lymph nodes than those who received only monitoring.
Melanoma
Melanoma is believed to have a very high survival rate because it is usually easy to detect, but it is still at an early stage of detection. Be careful if the skin suddenly has large, black, irregularly shaped or raised spots, especially on the back, scalp, scrotum, and between the toes.
Although the cure rate of early melanoma is extremely high, it will be fatal if it is not treated early.
Thyroid carcinoma
There are many kinds of thyroid cancer, the most common [papillary cancer], which grows slowly and is also one of the most easily cured cancers. It often requires surgery to remove some or all of the thyroid gland for treatment.
Famous table tennis player Wang Nan once suffered from papillary thyroid cancer and is still healthy after so many years. However, not all thyroid cancer is very easy to treat, such as [medullary cancer] or [undifferentiated cancer], which is much more dangerous.
To cure cancer, we need the right time, the right place and the right people.
So many cancers can be cured, why?
In fact, cancer treatment, like war, pays attention to [the right time, the right place, the right people].
- Time: Early examination found, timely treatment location: tumor volume small, location limited people and: listen to the doctor’s words, active treatment
Tumors are a senile disease, and their incidence will increase year after year as we try our best to live a long and healthy life. However, remember that more than half of cancers will not have a serious what impact on our bodies.
It’s not terrible at all!
