Gout cannot be cured. This is what Dr. Clove has said many times. However, today we want to say that gout can also be cured.
Professor Zhao Yan of Peking Union Medical College was one of the first experts in China to propose that gout can be cured. At the same time, the 2013 annual meeting of the European Union against Rheumatism also proposed that gout is a curable and refractory disease.
Can gout be cured?
If you want to cure gout, you must first understand the cause of gout.
If the cause of a disease is not clear, then there is no cure or radical cure. However, the cause of gout is relatively clear, namely hyperuricemia.
Every patient with gouty arthritis must have experienced a period of hyperuricemia that was not detected or was not valued even though detected before the attack.
The saturation of blood uric acid in normal people is about 400mol/L. When the concentration of blood uric acid exceeds the saturation, urate crystals will be precipitated and deposited on joints and bones.
Every time there are what reasons, such as large wine and large meat causing the blood uric acid level to rise again, there will be new crystal deposition; Or explosive strenuous exercise, incorrect administration of uric acid lowering drugs such as allopurinol, causing a sudden drop in uric acid level, the deposited crystals will dissolve.
No matter whether the crystal is newly deposited or dissolved, it will cause the deposited urate crystal to be unstable, chemotactic release inflammatory factors, and lead to gout attack.
Gout can be cured, but it cannot be cured.
1. Reasons why gout can be cured
The [root] of gout is hyperuricemia. Through lifestyle intervention and drug therapy, urate crystals in the joint cavity can be gradually dissolved by controlling the blood uric acid level below the target value (360 or 300mol/L) for a long time.
When urate crystals are dissolved clean, if the blood uric acid level can continue to reach the standard and no new crystals are generated, the frequency of gout attacks will decrease or even no longer occur, and gout will be cured at this time.
From this perspective, gout can be cured. Gout is also one of the few rheumatological and immunological diseases that can be treated.
2. Reasons why gout cannot be cured
Whether gout patients or doctors, many people think gout is incurable. The reasons are as follows:
-
Everyone has worldly desires, and no one is willing to live an ascetic life, so it is inevitable to indulge occasionally. Gout is easy to quietly attack again after drinking and meat.
-
Long-term maintenance of blood uric acid reaching the standard can reduce the frequency of gout attacks or even stop them, but there are different ways and means to maintain blood uric acid reaching the standard continuously: some people may finally stop taking drugs and make uric acid reaching the standard continuously through strict lifestyle intervention; However, most people cannot stop taking drugs and need lifelong drugs to reduce uric acid.
-
Many people suffer from recurrent gout, joint damage and even visceral damage such as kidney, which is often irreversible.
We have different understandings of [cure]
The cure many patients hope is as follows: after taking a certain [drug], uric acid will no longer be high and gout will no longer attack, thus once and for all; And this [drug] is preferably natural and has no side effects.
Doctors, like gout patients, have such hopes, but the facts are often not so good.
Serum uric acid reaches the standard for a long time, which can make gout attack less or even no longer, but this is a marathon, which depends on long-term persistence and cannot be achieved overnight.
Any drug that treats diseases has certain [side effects], but these [side effects] are often negligible when taken under the guidance of doctors and reviewed regularly. However, [drugs] that claim [natural no side effects] [radical gout] are either ineffective or have no guarantee of safety.
The key is not the word [cure], but to remember four points.
As to whether gout can be cured, the public says that the public is right and the woman says that the woman is right. In fact, there is not much real problem. It is the key to understand the pathogenesis and diagnosis and treatment knowledge of gout:
-
There is no dispute that there is no gout without hyperuricemia.
-
Once the blood uric acid is found to be elevated, uric acid should be controlled under the guidance of doctors, or lifestyle intervention or drug therapy, and uric acid must be well controlled.
-
The original medical level is not developed, joint damage or visceral damage, that is the tragedy of limited medical conditions. Now the medical conditions are good, the treatment of gout control uric acid also has very good drugs, still dead [bear hardships and stand hard work] do not see a doctor in time for treatment, that is, do not take your body as one thing.
-
It doesn’t make much sense to struggle with whether gout can be cured. What is clear is that uric acid must continue to reach the standard. Once uric acid continues to reach the standard, gouty arthritis will attack less and less, and slowly it will no longer attack.
