Tea is one of the three major beverages in the world.
It originated in China and is popular in the world. Even in the eyes of many people, drinking tea is a perfect way to preserve one’s health by combining [losing weight, burning fat, reducing blood lipid, lowering blood pressure, fighting cancer…].
How about tea? What kind of tea should I drink?
There is little difference between different teas.
There are about hundreds of different kinds of teas all over China, and people also like to give different teas different effects.
But in fact, all tea comes from the same plant and is processed from the leaves of tea trees. Different varieties of tea trees, different planting conditions, different picking times and different processing techniques have all kinds of tea.
However, from a biochemical point of view, tea that looks completely different is not much different. After brewing and leaching into water, the core ingredients are caffeine, tea polyphenols, theanine, tea saponin and so on, but the amount of ingredients varies.
Tea is a healthy drink
We should give a reassurance to our friends who like drinking tea: tea is indeed a healthy drink.
1. Fat, sugar and calories are very low.
The most critical reason why tea is a [healthy drink]: fat, sugar and calories are negligibly low. This alone can kill a sugary drink.
Step 2: Caffeine
Caffeine is the main source of bitter taste in tea. There have been a lot of studies on the effects of caffeine on health. Based on these studies, the scientific consensus is that moderate intake of caffeine is good for health.
This moderate amount is usually several hundred milligrams per day. Don’t worry, even those who drink more tea have caffeine intake within this “moderate” range.
3. Tea polyphenol
Tea polyphenols are the characteristic components of tea. In different teas, the specific types and contents of tea polyphenols are different.
However, they all have antioxidant effects, and all kinds of [health care functions] of tea basically come from tea polyphenols. We will elaborate on this later.
Can you lose weight by drinking tea?
The saying that drinking tea can reduce weight has a mass base.
However, the truth is very cruel: whether you can lose weight depends on the comparison between the calories you eat and the calories you consume. There is no so-called weight loss [artifact].
Therefore, whether drinking tea can lose weight depends on whether it can help you reduce calorie intake or increase calorie consumption.
If you originally like to drink sugary drinks, such as fruit juice, sweet coffee and milk tea, drinking tea instead (instead of the sweet tea sold in supermarkets) will reduce the intake of sugar and calories, which will naturally help to lose weight.
If you only drink water, then drinking tea instead will not reduce calorie intake and will not help you lose weight.
As for the legend that tea can inhibit fat absorption or burn fat, it is basically a beautiful fantasy and there is no scientific evidence to support it.
I don’t exercise yet, and I want to lose weight by drinking tea-let it go! Pass! Tea! Come on!
Can the [active substance] in tea keep in good health?
Is it true that all kinds of [active substances] in tea can protect health, resist cancer and resist aging?
Frankly speaking, from the existing research evidence, tea is a good drink, but it cannot be concluded.
Indeed, there are many [active substances] in tea, such as tea polyphenols, tea saponins and theanine, and they have also shown various health effects in cell experiments and animal experiments.
However, according to the concept of modern evidence-based medicine, these research results are far from enough as evidence to claim these effects.
You know, science is not a circle of friends, and it is not possible to draw conclusions by doing a few experiments casually. The [effective] shown in cell experiments and animal experiments can only guide us to the next research direction. It cannot be said that it has these effects until clear and reliable human experimental evidence is obtained.
However, although there is still no conclusion as to whether tea can preserve one’s health and protect one’s health, this does not prevent it from being a healthy beverage. After all, tea is almost sugar-free, calorie-free and has good aroma and flavor.
If more in-depth and sufficient research proves [the efficacy of drinking tea] in a few years, then consider it [an additional benefit].
What about the legendary taboos about drinking tea?
There are many taboos about drinking tea in life. Some [taboos] are erroneous, others are reasonable but exaggerated. Let’s choose some of the most widely circulated ones.
Drink less strong tea?
Strong tea contains high caffeine and oxalic acid, but their impact on human body depends on the total intake rather than the concentration. Drinking a small amount of strong tea is not much different from drinking a large amount of light tea.
Of course, very strong tea is bitter and astringent, and it is not good to drink.
People with iron deficiency had better not drink tea?
Oxalic acid in tea can combine with iron, thus affecting the absorption of iron.
However, the key is still the problem of quantity. If you eat enough iron through a reasonable and normal diet, there is no need to struggle with the impact of drinking tea.
Pregnant women cannot drink tea?
This legend is very widespread, and many doctors and nutrition experts also say so.
The reason why pregnant women are advised not to drink tea is because of the caffeine in it. However, the NIH Medical Library in the United States summarized relevant studies and concluded that it is acceptable for pregnant women to consume less than 200 milligrams of caffeine per day. Generally speaking, two cups of normally brewed tea (400-500 milliliters) contain less than 200 milligrams of caffeine.
What tea is the best?
There are so many teas on the market now, and there are various prices. Which is better to drink?
As mentioned earlier, all teas come from the same plant. Different teas, like different pasta, are made of flour although they come in various forms.
The tea industry divides tea into six categories according to the degree of oxidation in the process: green tea, oolong tea, yellow tea, white tea, black tea and black tea. Scented tea is not a kind of tea, but a kind of [reprocessed tea]. Generally, green tea is used to absorb the aroma released by jasmine when it opens. Now, there are also some scented tea made from black tea.
Although all kinds of tea will flaunt their [rich] beneficial ingredients in advertising and marketing, it is OK to talk about tea, but it does not have much practical significance.
The choice of tea only needs to consider two things:
- One is that you think it tastes good, the other is that you can afford it.
Other [master] [expert] recommendations and comments, just look at it, don’t take it seriously.
