Male belly is big, must be [beer belly]?
That’s not necessarily true! Today, Dr. Clove will tell you what causes men’s stomachs to get bigger.
Obesity
Obesity is the main reason for men’s large stomachs. Fat accumulates in the abdomen and the large belly is as strong as a barrel, so it is called [beer belly] [arhat belly].
However, drinking beer is not directly related to getting fat. An uncontrolled diet is the real reason for getting fat.
Beer has the effect of promoting gastric juice secretion, to a certain extent can increase appetite. When drinking, usually like to eat high-calorie dishes, will increase fat absorption. In addition, long-term sitting in the office, lack of exercise, work pressure is greater, easy to lead to indigestion, will also affect hormones, gradually causing overweight.
Some studies have shown that men with beer bellies are 8 times more likely to suffer from hypertension and 5 times more likely to suffer from coronary heart disease than normal men. Cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction are also common among men with beer bellies.
Therefore, men need to eliminate [beer belly] as soon as possible. This requires joint efforts from many aspects, for example, eating at ordinary times is seven full. Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day; Take a warm bath before going to bed to improve sleep, etc.
Ascites
Another cause of abdominal swelling is ascites, that is, abnormal increase of fluid in the abdominal cavity. This abdominal cavity refers to the place (void) in the stomach except internal organs such as liver, stomach and intestine.
Under normal circumstances, there is a small amount of liquid in the abdominal cavity of a person, which plays a role of protection and lubrication. Generally, it will not exceed 200 milliliters. They are not stationary, but constantly exchange with blood and lymph to achieve a dynamic balance of entry and exit.
- When liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, heart failure and other factors cause imbalance in and out, the amount of fluid in the abdominal cavity increases abnormally and ascites occurs. When the amount of ascites is small, about 300 ~ 500ml, generally there are no obvious symptoms and it is not easy to be detected. When the amount of ascites increases to 500 ~ 3000 mL, the stomach will feel bloated and bulging. When the amount of ascites is more than 3,000 mL, dyspnea and leg edema will occur.
Can cause ascites disease, generally more serious. Therefore, when physical examination or accidental discovery of ascites, should immediately see a doctor and treat.
Abdominal flatulence
Flatulence, that is, excessive gas in gastrointestinal tract.
Normal people have a small amount of gas in gastrointestinal tract, about 150ml. Part of the air enters the body, and part of the bacteria in large intestine decompose food. It is mainly excreted by gastrointestinal peristalsis, such as hiccups or farting, or by lung respiration after absorption by intestinal wall blood vessels.
When the source of gas increases or the discharge decreases, intestinal flatulence will be caused:
Step 1: Food Fermentation
Eating too many foods that are easy to ferment and produce gas, such as beans, peanuts, sweet potatoes, etc., leads to excessive gas production in the intestinal tract.
Step 2 Inhale air
When eating, you gush, chew gum, drink through a straw, or swallow food whole, there is also a lot of air with you.
3. Gas absorption disorder in gastrointestinal tract
Diseases such as heart failure will lead to blood circulation disorders in the intestinal wall and affect gas absorption in the intestinal cavity, thus causing abdominal distension.
4. Gastrointestinal gas excretion disorder
Intestinal obstruction, dyspepsia and other diseases will weaken or disappear the peristaltic function of the intestine, resulting in the gas in the intestinal cavity not being discharged out of the body.
To avoid flatulence, please note:
- When eating, chew slowly and do not drink gas-producing beverages, such as sprite and cola. Try to eat less gas-producing foods, such as tofu, sweet potatoes and milk. After meals, you can take some mild exercises, such as walking, to help digestion.
If flatulence occurs for a long time, you should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.
Other
1. Abdominal tumor
Very few men have large stomachs, which are caused by abdominal tumors.
Abnormal hyperplastic tumors can themselves lead to abdominal enlargement. Complications such as advanced colon cancer and pancreatic cancer may also lead to ascites.
2. Parasitic diseases
Parasitic diseases such as hydatid cyst, intestinal ascariasis, schistosomiasis and clonorchis sinensis can cause hepatosplenomegaly, ascites, etc., resulting in large stomachs.
