As adults, they must have heard or done electrocardiogram. Electrocardiogram is often a routine examination, whether in hospital or cardiology clinic.
Although we are very familiar with nouns, we still know very little about electrocardiogram, and even some friends say [when doing electrocardiogram, we are worried about being shocked], so we are especially nervous every time we do electrocardiogram.
As the most common and basic physical examination, although electrocardiogram looks profound, every friend can understand it, at least during the examination, he will not be nervous, and when he sees the examination results, he will not be confused.
Is electrocardiogram a discharge to the heart?
Electrocardiogram does not discharge the heart, it records the heart’s own electrical activity.
The beating of the heart is directed by its own electrical signals. The electrocardiograph can record these signals and express them through curves, which is the electrocardiogram we often see.
If there is a problem with the heart, the electrical signal of the heart will also be abnormal, and the curve of electrocardiogram will be different. Doctors can judge whether the patient’s heart has any problems and what problems through different curves.
Electrocardiogram examination will not discharge the heart or cause damage to the heart. It is only a recording device, so people need not be too nervous when doing electrocardiogram examination.
Do you need electrocardiogram for physical examination?
At present, it is a common phenomenon that many institutions take electrocardiogram as a routine physical examination item, and almost all ages carry out electrocardiogram examination during physical examination.
From a macro-economic point of view, it is not necessary to do so. In the general population, the proportion of abnormal electrocardiogram is very low, and the cost does not match the benefit. In addition, some minor abnormal changes in electrocardiogram that do not need to be handled, such as occasional premature beats, will increase the psychological burden of patients.
However, from a personal point of view, normal electrocardiogram can at least eliminate many diseases, and the price of electrocardiogram in our country is also in the tens of yuan, which is acceptable to the general public. In order to feel at ease, check electrocardiogram, also can understand.
However, these people must have an electrocardiogram for physical examination:
- People over 60 years of age; People with cardiovascular disease risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia; A perennial smoker.
The probability of heart diseases in these groups of people is much higher than that in others, and it is very necessary to have regular electrocardiogram examination.
Which ECG results need attention?
The electrical signals of the heart are very complicated, and it is sometimes difficult for non-cardiac doctors to thoroughly understand them. If there is any doubt about the results of electrocardiogram, the most reliable thing is to find a cardiologist to interpret the report.
Generally speaking, words such as [sinus rhythm] [sinus arrhythmia] mean relatively normal electrocardiogram.
When [conduction block] [myocardial infarction] [tachycardia] [bradycardia] and other results occur, attention should be paid to them, and they should go to the Department of Cardiology in time. When the condition is serious, they should also cooperate with doctors for rescue.
Is the [sinus] of electrocardiogram what?
Electrocardiogram reports vary from long to short. Some reports will directly write [normal electrocardiogram], while others are a lot of professional terms that cannot be understood.
For example, in many reports, the first sentence is [sinus rhythm]. Many people do not understand what is going on.
First of all, congratulations, normal heart rhythm is sinus rhythm. [Sinus] refers to an anatomical structure of the heart [sinus node], [sinus rhythm] is the signal that directs the heart beating, which is initiated by sinus node, and this is the origin of normal heart rhythm.
The heart beat must start from the [sinus node], otherwise it is abnormal or disease.
There is a problem with the heart. Is the electrocardiogram definitely abnormal?
Some friends have this kind of experience, heart discomfort, the doctor asked to do an electrocardiogram, the result electrocardiogram is fine. Why is this?
Electrocardiogram is a tool to analyze the electrical activity of the heart and only reflects one aspect of the heart. A metaphor circulated among doctors vividly explains the role of various cardiac examinations. I also share it with you here.
If you think of the heart as a house:
Heart color Doppler ultrasound, see how many rooms and halls the house is, and whether the wall of the house is good or not;
Electrocardiogram, see if the circuit is normal;
Coronary angiography to see if the house’s water pipes are blocked and leaked.
We can see that only when there is a problem with the [circuit] of the heart will the electrocardiogram be abnormal.
When you feel that your heart is uncomfortable but your electrocardiogram is fine, there may be several reasons:
1. Illness [cunning] not caught
Moreover, the electrocardiogram reflects the heart [circuit] at that time. Some arrhythmia occurs in a burst of attacks. When there is no attack, the electrocardiogram cannot see abnormalities. Therefore, sometimes doctors will suggest patients to do a [24-hour electrocardiogram] to watch it continuously for 24 hours in order to try to catch the abnormal electrocardiogram.
2. It’s not a heart problem
[Heart Discomfort] This is a very subjective feeling. It is not necessarily a heart problem to have this feeling. It is also possible to feel nervous for a while or stomach trouble. The distance between the stomach and the heart is relatively close, and it is easy to confuse. Sometimes [stomachache] patients go to the digestive department, and the doctor will also let them do an electrocardiogram.
3. The lesion is too mild.
When the cardiac abnormality is very slight, the electrocardiogram cannot be recognized and other examinations may be required.
4. The lesion is too serious.
Sometimes the heart disease is too serious, leading to the ECG judgment is [false normal], which is related to the principle of ECG. Doctors will perform ultrasound, chest radiograph and other cardiac examinations according to the patient’s condition to make a comprehensive judgment.
