Our skin regulates body temperature by increasing sweat discharge, while the baby’s skin appendages are not fully developed, perspiration is not as smooth as that of adults, and when sweat is too much, it will deposit in the skin, which will lead to prickly heat.
Not only will prickly heat grow in summer, but those parents and friends who are afraid of freezing the baby will dress the baby layer after layer when the weather changes slightly, and the prickly heat will be covered up.
The prickly heat is so itchy that adults can’t bear it, let alone children-what should parents do?
Today Ding Ma invited Dr. Chen Yulan to tell you about it.
When dealing with prickly heat, keep these three principles in mind.
Nowadays, there are many products on the market under the banner of “removing prickly heat” and “preventing prickly heat”. No matter which one we choose, the following three principles cannot be forgotten:
Step 1 Cooling
The root cause of the baby’s prickly heat is that it is too hot and sweaty. Then at this time, the first thing we should do is to cool down.
Can the air conditioner blow? Yes!
Can the fan blow? Yes!
Worried about the baby freezing? The temperature of the air conditioner is higher, it is always right to turn it on above 25 degrees. The fan makes it shake its head and blows at it all the time. Adults will also feel uncomfortable.
Step 2: Cleaning
The baby has prickly heat and sweat cannot be discharged out of sweat glands because sweat is silted up. At this time, attention should be paid to helping the baby clean his skin, such as taking a warm bath or taking a warm bath.
Can I take a cold bath? Let’s leave this alone, mainly for fear of the baby catching a cold. It is good to wash it with warm water with the same temperature as the baby’s skin.
Step 3 Dry
Pore blockage, one of the major reasons is that the skin is too wet. At this time, we can use dry gauze to gently absorb the place with prickly heat, and then apply various products with dry and astringent effects.
How to choose the product? Here we first introduce mint calamine lotion, then calamine lotion. More, let’s talk about it later.
To deal with prickly heat, attention should be paid to these aspects.
Having said what to do, let’s talk about what we can’t do and what we should pay attention to.
1. Do you want to add some ingredients to the bath?
If you want to add the following three ingredients, endure it:
- Bath products-will further irritate the baby’s skin, which is not good for the fading of prickly heat. Endure it and don’t use it at this time in order to wash it cleaner. Pure natural plant ingredients-since they are pure natural, they will have impurities without purification, which will easily lead to allergy if they are not kept properly. If they must be used, be careful. All kinds of water containing alcohol-the baby’s skin is tender and cannot be stimulated these days, is it very painful to apply it? I don’t believe you have a prickly heat and try it!
The best way is to take a bath in warm water. The water temperature is about the same as the baby’s skin temperature.
2. Don’t let the baby scratch!
Our doctors all said, how to itch? The next doctor’s advice will do-scratch! However, most of the time, itching really can’t scratch.
One is afraid that the baby will scratch the skin, which will increase the risk of infection; Second, if it is not broken but scratched thin, it will make the local skin sensitive and enter the [difficult environment] later. It must still be this area with prickly heat or even other what rashes.
By analogy, don’t rub your skin too hard, don’t think about how clean it is, friction is not good for your baby’s skin. Just dip it in dry gauze and don’t click with water.
Do you want to see a doctor?
If one of the following three situations is met, let’s take our children to the doctor’s place:
- I am not sure whether the child has prickly heat. After applying calamine lotion for two days, it seemed useless. The prickly heat looks different, with milky white pus plugs and even pustules.
Removing miliaria products, these should not be used
As we mentioned at the beginning, the baby’s skin absorbs sweat and can apply something on it after bathing water. Of course, I will first introduce mint calamine, which is cool and dry on the skin, and the baby will not always think about scratching.
After the informant provided clues, I tried to search [prickly heat] on the e-commerce platform, but I was really shocked by the result-it was just prickly heat, and how could I come up with so many flowers?
No matter, I must tell you first why the following types of products should not be selected.
1. No pine pollen, corn flour, edible flour
These are all edible ah baby, people can eat, bacteria can also. Sprinkle delicious food on the fragile local skin of the baby, and then stir with sweat. Is this to raise microorganisms on the baby to play with, or is it to expect microorganisms to help the baby eat prickly heat?
Don’t use such things, just use normal talcum powder.
2. Toilet water with ethanol is not used, and various kinds of water are not used.
Ethanol, that is, alcohol, is very irritating. When there is prickly heat, don’t give it to the baby. As we have said before, it hurts! It really hurts! Don’t use it!
In addition, this kind of products must be careful to enter the eyes, the baby’s small hands touch and scratch, and then rub the eyes… This is very dangerous.
3. Don’t use products that claim to be pure natural plant formulas.
Traditional Chinese medicine although some external prescription, such as three yellow soup ah, honeysuckle dew ah, can play a dry skin, promote the role of recovery, but the former effect is relatively strong, used on the baby’s delicate skin may not be appropriate. The latter you want to use just try it, there is no evidence to prove that it is harmful at present.
Products claimed to be pure natural have a disadvantage. As we mentioned earlier, pure natural means no purification, no purification means more impurities, and impurities are more likely to cause allergy.
Allergy, you know? It’s itchy, rash and other systemic symptoms. You said, isn’t it just a prickly heat? Good calamine is not needed. Is it worth taking the risk?
These are the products for removing prickly heat.
Finally speaking of this, a sigh of relief!
In fact, we have already mentioned the products worth recommending before. Here, we will talk about them again. There are mainly two types: calamine and talcum powder.
1. Calamine
This is really a cheap and easy-to-use preparation, which is worth keeping at home.
Shake it before use and apply it to the place with prickly heat after taking a bath. Even if it is serious prickly heat, it will obviously improve in 3 to 5 days at most.
By the way, not all prickly heat is suitable for calamine, if have long pustules, the top priority is to take the baby to the hospital to let dermatologists to see. At this time, the doctor will prescribe a medicine called [fish lipide]-ordinary prickly heat is not suitable ah-it can make pus plug, pustules scabbed quickly, accelerate recovery.
2. Talcum Powder
Since parents learned about [talcum powder causes cancer], people have begun to believe in various products that claim to replace talcum powder, but in fact they are not as good as talcum powder.
Remember, the real carcinogen is not talcum powder that may be contaminated by asbestos, but asbestos. Talcum powder used by regular manufacturers to produce talcum powder should be medical talcum powder and does not contain asbestos. Although talcum powder is also listed as Class 2B carcinogen, this means that its [carcinogenic possibility is low]; However, the ham we often eat belongs to the more severe [Category 1 carcinogen], and everyone is still eating it.
Therefore, there is no need to turn pale at the mention of talcum powder. If you have prickly heat, you should use it.
In addition, there is currently a kind of [liquid talcum powder] on the market, which is zinc oxide like the effective ingredient of talcum powder. However, it is less likely to raise dust in use, does not pose a threat to the baby’s immature respiratory tract, and can also dry the skin like traditional talcum powder.
However, because talcum powder is at risk of being inhaled by the baby, you should be careful and choose carefully when smearing it.
How about it, remember?
Cooling, cleaning and drying; Calamine, talcum powder!
