If you want to prepare for pregnancy smoothly, the production factories and bases in the rear are very important. In order to ensure their normal operation, you can help us check one by one through some systematic examinations, which is what we often call pre-pregnancy examinations. Women need to do a series of pre-pregnancy examinations in advance, and men should not relax.
Men’s Preparedness for Combat
For male compatriots, we mentioned that besides ensuring a balanced diet and good living habits, there are also some diseases or problems that may affect pregnancy, so attention should be paid.
Specialist’s physical examination, blood tests such as blood type, blood routine, liver and kidney function, ultrasound and other examinations, can be done before preparing for pregnancy. If you don’t know how to check, you can go to the hospital to ask a doctor to help you choose. He will determine according to your past medical history and family medical history.
If you find any problems, communicate with your doctor in time and make a reasonable treatment plan. In a word, find out as soon as possible and treat them in time so as not to affect your plan of making a baby.
In addition, men are generally not recommended to undergo routine invasive examinations at the beginning of pregnancy preparation. In order to understand sperm quality, semen routine is the most basic examination.
Do you need to pay attention to what in semen examination?
First of all, the inspection time is exquisite.
Frequent sperm excretion will affect the volume and composition of semen. In order to reflect the real state of semen in the body as much as possible, the examination should be carried out after 3-5 days without sperm excretion, but not more than 7 days. The interval between two samples should be more than 7 days. The result is accurate.
Secondly, there are requirements for containers to be submitted for inspection.
Containers for semen inspection need to be clean, sterile and dry. Special containers provided by hospitals should be used to avoid interference as much as possible.
Some couples use condoms to extract sperm, which will seriously interfere with the test results. First, the amount of semen cannot be evaluated. Second, the addition of condoms will often have obvious killing effects on sperm.
Third, avoid contamination of samples.
After preparing the environment and containers, be sure to remember to clean the vulva, especially the penis head, before collecting samples. Don’t exceed 30 minutes on the way to the inspection. You also need to avoid external pollution and maintain a relatively constant temperature. When the weather is cold, the close-fitting inner pocket is a good choice.
Fourth, ensure the integrity of the samples.
Sexual activity, ejaculation before there will be from urethral glands, prostate, epididymis and ampulla of some liquid outflow, which may have a lot of sperm. The main body of semen is from the seminal vesicle, will follow, in the collection of samples, should be all semen collection for inspection, in order to accurately reflect the situation.
If the results of the first examination are not good, don’t be too nervous. Semen examination is easily interfered by the outside world. Therefore, it is better to review and confirm.
The following are some important indicators about semen examination:
- Appearance milky white, or yellowish, semi-fluid jelly; The amount is more than 1.5 ml; The pH value is above 7.2; Can liquefy within half an hour; Each milliliter of semen contains more than 15 million sperm, with a total motility of not less than 40%, a proportion of forward motile sperm of not less than 32%, a proportion of normal morphological sperm of more than 4% (lack of arms and short legs, egg sister is despised), and there are no abnormal numbers of red blood cells and white blood cells in semen.
In addition to these conventional indicators, there are also some biochemical indicators such as sugar, carnitine, zinc, etc.
The interpretation of the results after the examination is recommended to be done by a professional doctor.
What should I do if there is a problem with the inspection results?
If semen abnormalities are found, such as small amount, inability to liquefy in a short period of time, low pH value, low or even no sperm concentration, insufficient sperm motility, and high malformation rate, specific analysis is needed.
Slight abnormalities may have little impact on pregnancy preparation, while obvious abnormalities may cause serious interference and even infertility. Further targeted diagnosis and treatment measures should be taken.
For example, a small amount may be due to insufficient production or obstruction of the seminal tract. Prostatitis may be associated with non-liquefaction and low pH. Lack of generation and vitality, high malformation rate may be related to varicocele, alcohol and tobacco and other bad living habits, cryptorchidism, mumps and other medical history.
According to these conditions, hormone level, seminal plasma biochemistry, prostatic fluid routine, urinary and reproductive system ultrasound, and nuclear magnetic resonance examination are required.
If treatment is carried out, some treatments have no effect on pregnancy preparation, such as vitamins, levocarnitine, which improves sperm motility, sildenafil and tadalafil, which improve sexual function, etc. Contraception is not required during medication.
However, some drugs or treatments will have an impact, or there is a lack of exact information to show whether it will have an impact, such as some drugs for the treatment of chronic prostatitis, surgical treatment of varicocele, etc. At this time, diagnosis and treatment should be carried out first and pregnancy preparation should be delayed.
A few more words
Speaking of which, I would also like to give you a warning. It is suggested to sort out the drugs you have taken recently to see if there are any drugs that affect fertility.
The composition of western medicine is clear and it is relatively easy to distinguish. If you are not sure, you can consult a professional doctor or pharmacist. We need to be on guard against some traditional Chinese medicines, because the chemical composition is unclear and it is often difficult to clarify.
