Although it is a face-watching world, if you get beriberi, it is estimated that no one will want to approach you.
As for beriberi, what everyone is most concerned about is whether it can be cured or not.
It is not difficult to treat beriberi, but it is difficult to prevent [stepping on pits], so before treating beriberi, it is necessary to have a good understanding of [beriberi].
Beriberi does not cure, be careful to spread all over the body.
[Beriberi] is the common name of tinea pedis. It is a common skin disease caused by fungal infection. The prevalence rate in the population is as high as 15% [1], which is highly infectious.
If the patient’s hygiene habits are not good, for example:
A towel wiped the whole body;
Beriberi may spread to other parts of the body and become tinea corporis, tinea manus and tinea cruris… Therefore, don’t take beriberi seriously, treat beriberi immediately!
Farewell to beriberi requires [treatment] and [prevention]
1. Treatment: Use the right medicine
In fact, it is not difficult to cure beriberi. Killing fungi can bid farewell to beriberi.
The most common drugs for beriberi on the market mainly include [compound preparations], [azoles] and [acrylamines].
When choosing drugs, it is very important to read the instructions clearly and identify the ingredients.
Compound preparation: antifungal, hormone-containing, prescription drug
The name of such drugs will bear the word “compound” and generally contain antifungal ingredients and hormones.
For example, [compound ketoconazole] contains [ketoconazole] and [clobetasol propionate].
[Ketoconazole] is an antibiotic with antifungal effect, and its main function is to inhibit fungal growth.
[Clobetasol Propionate] is a super-effective hormone. Improper use will cause many side effects.
On September 8, 2017, China Food and Drug Administration officially issued a document to convert such compound preparations into prescription drugs for management, which means that such drugs will not be available in pharmacies afterwards. [2]
Azoles: Generally, fungi cannot be killed, and the course of treatment takes at least 4 weeks.
There are many kinds of azole drugs and they also belong to antifungal drugs, such as clotrimazole and ketoconazole.
The main function of azole drugs is to inhibit the growth of fungi and generally cannot kill fungi.
Azole drugs can relieve beriberi symptoms, but the course of treatment should be at least 4 weeks. [3]
Acrylamines: It has dual functions of sterilization and bacteriostasis.
Acrylamine drugs mainly include [terbinafine], [butenafine] and so on, which are relatively new antifungal drugs.
Among them, [terbinafine] is the representative:
It can destroy the structure of fungi, inhibit the synthesis of substances required by fungi, and play the dual roles of sterilization and bacteriostasis. [4] The course of treatment is generally 2 weeks, which is easy to stick to.
In addition to the three most common drugs mentioned above, pyrrolidone [cicyclopiramide] also has certain fungicidal and inhibitory effects, but the therapeutic effect is weaker than bitbinafine. [5]
Proper use of drugs is also crucial.
The drug should be applied to all affected parts, and the use time should reach the treatment course. Do not stop the drug casually, and be careful that the drug is rubbed off by shoes, socks, etc.
It should be noted that for more serious, long and stubborn fungal infections with other parts of the body, oral antifungal drugs may be required to cooperate with treatment.
2. Prevention: Avoid recurrence
After beriberi is cured, everything is not all right. We still need to do something to prevent it from recurring again.
Wash feet frequently and change shoes frequently.
Wash feet, especially toe seams, and dry them in time after washing.
Change shoes and socks frequently and try to choose shoes with good air permeability to keep your feet dry and clean.
Soak shoes and socks with disinfectant
Shoes and socks can be scalded at high temperature for more than 10 minutes, or soaked in disinfectant and cleaned, and dried in the sun.
The disinfectant can be 70% medical alcohol (soaking for more than 1 hour) or hydrogen peroxide (soaking for more than 20 minutes). [6]
Use antiperspirant drugs
For those who are prone to foot sweat, antiperspirant agents such as antiperspirant beads and antiperspirant spray can be used.
Pay Attention to Hygiene in Public Places
Avoid walking barefoot in public places such as swimming pools and gymnasiums, and try not to wear public slippers.
The onychomycosis should also be treated in time.
If the toenail suffers from onychomycosis (commonly known as onychomycosis), it should also be treated in time to avoid recurrence caused by fungi on the toenail.
