I don’t know how many times better the living and medical conditions are now than they were 30 or 40 years ago. However, many old people feel very tired and even miserable.
Why? Is there a what problem?
Ding Dang specifically consulted Yu Renwen, a nutritionist at the Army General Hospital of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. He has a great say in this matter.
Nutritionist Yu Renwen is mainly responsible for the dietary nutrition of patients after various geriatric diseases, nutritional metabolic chronic diseases, surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the Army General Hospital of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
In addition, he also served as a member of the Beijing Dietitian Association, a member of the Expert Committee of the Chinese Cooking Association, a member of the Food Nutrition Committee of the Chinese Gerontology Association, and a member of the Youth Committee of the Beijing Anti-Cancer Association.
In 2015, he was appointed as a full-time nutritionist for the Anti-Japanese War Veterans’ Square Team on September 3.
During the diet recuperation for veterans, the 95-year-old Lao Ba Lu exchanged experiences with Yu teacher:
Now the living conditions are so good that if you don’t live to be 90 years old, no one should complain, only yourself.
The couple of veterans of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea interviewed by CCTV were also invited to participate in the military parade.
After several life and death in the war years, he suffered from cancer in the peace years.
However, proper treatment, peaceful state of mind and reasonable diet have made the elderly in good physical condition and cherish every day today.
As Huangpu Military Academy veterans said:
The ups and downs are the scenery of life.
In the diet of the veterans, Yu teacher found that some 100-year-old Red Army men, although they had been eating simple clothes and coarse food for decades, still spoke like Hong Zhong and were full of passion.
He felt that the diet of middle-aged and elderly friends is not how valuable the ingredients are, as long as the common food is reasonably matched and the nutrition is balanced, it is your dish!
In the past few months with veterans, combined with his conversation and observation with veterans and more than 20 years of clinical dietary work experience, Yu found that the main problems that are easy to occur before people die are as follows-
- Heart failure, lung failure, myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction cancer, advanced malnutrition, digestive system problems or living habits, resulting in severe nutritional deficiency, long-term bed rest after fracture, resulting in the above problems
Many problems have worsened the quality of life of the elderly in their later years.
Among them, recessive malnutrition is a very important but easily neglected factor.
What is recessive malnutrition
When it comes to malnutrition, everyone’s impression is how’s? Lightweight, sallow and emaciated?
Recessive malnutrition refers to seemingly normal diet, but the intake and absorption of nutrients are far from enough.
To say that the causes of recessive malnutrition are not complicated either. First, they do not protect their teeth well. Second, they are not balanced in nutrition for a long time.
Good teeth and mouth are the basis for comprehensive nutrition.
If you have good teeth, your appetite will be good. If you eat well, your body will be better.
1. Good mouth, eat fruit directly
If you can’t bite the fruit, you can only choose to squeeze the juice.
Compared with drinking fruit juice, eating fruit directly can reduce the speed of sugar raising. Vitamin C and dietary fiber in fruit can also be eaten into the stomach.
Healthier and more nutritious.
2. If you have a good mouth, the meat will not have to be stewed very rotten.
You know, if the meat is stewed for too long, it will lose more B vitamins and antioxidants, and its nutritional value will decrease.
3. Good mouth, can eat crisp vegetables
No more rotten boiled vegetables. Simple blanching, stir-frying or direct cold mix can retain vitamins, flavonoids and other antioxidants in green leafy vegetables.
It can help slow down the speed of cell aging and apoptosis, delay aging, improve skin and sleep quality, and better control the [three highs].
Some veterans, who are nearly 100 years old, are still able to move freely, eat delicious food and speak well. What they have in common is that they have a good mouth.
4. Good teeth and mouth, often eat coarse cereals rice
Without always drinking coarse cereal paste and healthy teeth, you can chew more slightly harder grain rice to slow down the sugar increase.
Old people do not have to eat soft rice, porridge and rotten vegetables.
Otherwise, it will not only suffer from malnutrition, but also make teeth and gastrointestinal functions [use in and waste out]-if you don’t use me, my functions won’t need to be particularly strong.
5. Only when you have a good mouth can you chew and swallow slowly.
Chewing carefully can stimulate the normal secretion of digestive juice and prevent the stomach from being often affected by swallowing whole. It can also avoid stuttering, eating too much at once and eating too much.
Not to mention cutting the food very finely, resulting in excessive nutrient loss when heating.
Watch out! To avoid long-term nutritional imbalance
Many people say:
People should be the same as children when they get old. Not only the elderly may also need to use bibs, diapers, four-wheel carts and family companionship, but also need to take in more calcium, iron, zinc, protein and vitamins like children.
For elderly friends whose liver and kidney functions are normal, it is reasonable to supplement 1.2 ~ 1.5 g of protein per kilogram of body weight.
There are too many old people who don’t like meat or can’t eat meat any more. They choose to be basically vegetarian or a small amount of stewed meat, plus stewed porridge, vegetables and noodles.
Such an old man [can eat well]? No!
The reduction of animal foods is more likely to lead to protein deficiency. Long-term heating will cause nutrient loss. In the long run, nutrition will be unbalanced.
What follows is-
- Less synthetic immunoglobulin and poor immunity; Less secreted digestive enzymes, poor appetite and dyspepsia; Hormone synthesis is less, not too old, but less [sexual happiness]; Muscle reduction, collagen reduction, intervertebral disc atrophy, hunchback, alopecia, vascular elasticity deterioration, skin relaxation, later, phlegm boring cough, masticatory muscle and swallowing function decline… Calcium absorption disorder, will make osteoporosis gradually serious, muscle atrophy, blood circulation slowdown, lower limb venous thrombosis and other conditions, will appear one after another; Heme iron has less sources and is more likely to suffer from anemia. Anemia will reduce oxygen supply to the brain of the elderly, make them prone to lethargy, reduce appetite and weaken immunity.
After the age of 60, muscles are basically declining at a rate of 1% per year. If people suffer from long-term malnutrition, the rate of muscle loss will be faster and faster, bone support will begin to decline, legs and feet will ache if they exercise slightly, and wrestling will be easier.
Fractures caused by wrestling will seriously affect the quality of life of the elderly in their later years and may be bedridden from now on.
We always call on the elderly to exercise moderately, but malnutrition makes exercise difficult, so they move less and less, and their appetite and digestion become worse. This vicious circle…
Now that you know this, follow the advice of nutritionists, protect your teeth, choose foods with balanced nutrition, and take appropriate exercise.
Let’s take a look at the photos taken by the teacher during the military parade.
At the age of 95, he can still eat three bowls of noodles, a plate of vegetables and a plate of fruits. He can also dance swords every day and have 2,500 sword flowers at a time.
Can readers and friends compare?
A 90-year-old war veteran who can also do 20 push-ups on the ground! Teacher Yu said he was very envious. (But also please do what you can and arrange appropriate exercise according to your actual situation.)
Nutritionists specifically told the old-timers that they have been accustomed to coarse tea and light rice all their lives, which is right. However, the coarse tea and light rice still need to be balanced in nutrition.
If you can protect your teeth, adjust your diet, arrange moderate exercise, control chronic diseases, conduct regular physical examination, and maintain a good and peaceful state of mind, you can also be 103 years old, still hale and hearty, hale and talkative, like the veteran in the above picture.
Have you been encouraged?
Why don’t we also set a small goal together, meet 100 years old, healthy and happy!
